Nightshade is a romance visual novel game that takes place in Japan after the Sengoku Period. The story revolves around the protagonist, Enju, who is a ninja in training. Enju is assigned her first mission and finds herself caught in a dark conspiracy. The romance in the game is between Enju and the other main characters, and it follows a tale of conflicting loyalties. The game has two endings for each of the five main characters depending on the route the player takes. The ending movie and music changes according to the final outcome of the player's choices. Nightshade is fully voiced by popular voice artists in Japan, except for the protagonist. The game has beautiful character design and illustrations by the popular illustrator Teita. Although the story is fictional, it includes factual characters and events, making it enjoyable for those interested in Japanese history.
